How Your School Can Participate

Reunion Time Capsule: A Class Project, offers this project to schools from elementary up to high school. We will store in a climate controlled environment a time capsule submitted by your class and return it to the matured students on their 20/30 year class reunion or to the same grade level & school in 25/50 years.  (Or what ever time increment the class decides)  Your students participation now, will dramatically increase the prospect of, and their interest in attending class reunions in the future.

By submitting your class/school time capsule to us, we will secure the contents and can assure that it is returned in tact.  Also, that no unauthorized person retrieves it, verses burying it on the school property where anyone can dig it up at anytime.  Also future construction at your school,  could bury or damage it there, where we will securely store it and return it with the contents preserved as they were when sent to us.

The participation cost is ($2.00) per student with a minimal participation fee of $40 (Teacher is free).  You may combine classes of the same grade in one container and save on shipping costs.  All participants names will be placed on this web site in your on-line class reunion time capsule. (NO names and faces will be matched together, just a group picture and a list of names)  The canisters will be returned  to the school where it originated, in care of the superintendent, principal or a person who is registered in that time capsule and organizing the class reunion. (Note:Names and faces will not be matched up on the web-site for security purposes.)

How it Works:

A School facility member is to go to a local hardware store and purchase a new, 5-gallon, PLASTIC container with air tight lid, super glue and a paint magic marker which can be found at a hobby store.  The cost for this will be less than $10.

Have the students prepare their time capsule with letters to themselves,  their classmates and from their parents.  It is important to have the parents write the child a letter with the understanding that this child will not be viewing it for 20-30 years. Unfortunately a lot of parents will no longer be alive when this letter is viewed.  It will be their chance to say "I Really Loved You" just one last time. Other examples of artifacts to be included in the capsule: CD of favorite songs, baseball cards, and pictures.  The teacher may also include all items confiscated throughout the school year and then can return these items to the children when they are adults.  Notes that are caught being passed in class would be another fun item to include. Some questionnaires are placed here (below) for teachers to copy and have their students fill out and include in their class capsule, if they wish.

Personal Profile: Okay For Most Grades

Positive Questionnaire: Okay For Middle and High School Students

Concerned Questionnaire: Okay For Middle and High School Students

Questionnaire About Me: Okay For 4th Grade Through 12th

Family Portrait: Elementary School

Personal Evaluation- K-10

The students can get their parents involved by having their parents write a letter to them and sealing it. The letter will then be viewed by the student when they unseal the time capsule years in the future.

Now, the sky is the limit as to what to place in your class time capsule, capturing this moment in time, and you are only held back by your own imagination. You can have your students write an essay with many different subjects, such as  "Describe What They Think A Typical Day In Their Lives Will Be Like, 20 Years From Now," or have them write a paragraph about 3 of the students sitting closest to them.  Once the time capsule is filled, the teacher is to seal the lid on the time capsule, then super glue it in place. For more information on constructing your class time capsule Click Here.

On the side and on the lid of the container, in permanent marker, write down the following information.

3) Teachers name and grade

4) Address of school

Include in an separate envelope a class picture, list of students names included in this capsule, and a page describing your town/city, school and class and what ever you wish to be posted on the web site.  (It would be helpful if you place this information and pictures on a floppy disc, but this is not a requirement)  Click here to view on already on-line time capsule.  Also include when you want this time capsule returned, a class reunion 10, 20, 30 year or the same class, grade level and school 25 years later or what ever time increment the class decides.

Send your time capsule to us via U.S. Mail,  with your payment of a minimum $40.00, or $2.00 per student participating in the project, and we will store it securely until this class time capsule is scheduled to be returned.  We will, in turn, send your school a  certificate of participation that is pretty enough to be framed and displayed in the lobby of your school.  Mail canister and payment to:
